NEW PATIENTS

If you have read through this website and are considering treatment with Chinese medicine, here are some possible next steps:

1) Call the office for a free consultation. I will gladly speak with you, on the phone or in person, the same day that you call.  I will answer all of your questions regarding your condition and treatment with Chinese medicine.  For most people, this takes only about 5 to 10 minutes.  However, I will spend as much time as you need answering general questions that can be answered without actually evaluating you in person.  If you prefer, you may send an email.

2) Schedule an appointment. If you are interested in obtaining more specific information, you need to be seen in person.  An initial evaluation allows time for a complete health history and examination.  A Chinese medical evaluation is not exactly the same as a western evaluation.  It includes the traditional Chinese examination of the pulse and tongue, palpation of acupuncture points and tight areas of the body, and a discussion of many aspects of health not generally considered important in western medicine.  Depending on the needs of the person and the problem they are coming for, this takes anywhere from 1 to 1 1/2 hours.  For people in pain, this can be shortened to avoid having to sit in an uncomfortable position for a long time.

By the end of the first visit, you will have a good understanding of your illness from the point of view of Chinese medicine. This means having a diagnosis, an understanding of how you got sick, what to expect form Chinese medicine including how long and how many treatments, what types of therapies will be involved, and what you can do for yourself to help. If you are not comfortable with the treatment plan or the information you have received, you are under no obligation and are free to leave with no charges. If you wish to proceed, than treatment will begin so that you can start to experience relief as quickly as possible.

3) If you have an emergency or are in pain, call the office and let us know. You will be seen the same or the next day.  This may mean a shorter visit just to get you in and treated.  Any necessary information that we do not get to can be discussed at a later appointment.
